ACUPUNCTURE

Veterinarians in ancient China 3000 years ago observed that pressure applied to certain parts of an animal's body relieved pain in certain areas. They then discovered that a better effect was produced if these points were penetrated by fine needles.
Over the last 30-40 years vets in the Western world have been using acupuncture to treat many different species of animal with considerable success. It alleviates pain, and stimulates the animal's own resistance to disease. It is especially useful for treating chronic diseases such as arthritis, but it can be used for other inflammatory conditions such as skin disease, and has even been used successfully for incontinence and fits.

The needles are very fine and are left in place for about 10 minutes. Most animals accept them surprisingly well, and some even seem to enjoy it.
The number of treatments and the interval between treatments varies depending on the duration and severity of the condition. We usually start with three or four treatments at weekly intervals, and then possibly fortnightly or monthly. The cost is £39.40 per session
