Consultations

How soon can I expect to schedule an appointment? Can I just drop in?
Our consultations are by appointment only, appointments generally being available within 24 hours. Just call one of our helpful receptionists: 01684 560640. In an emergency, please call ahead to let us know you are on your way.

How long do appointments usually last?
Consultations generally take around 10 minutes, but can be longer. We will spend whatever time is needed—your visit will not be rushed.

Will I have to sit in the waiting area a long time?
Usually you will see your veterinary surgeon after no more than a 15 minute wait. From time to time, emergencies can delay us. If your expected wait time is longer than fifteen minutes, you will be informed at check-in.

Are you open evenings and weekends?
We are open weekdays until 7:00 PM (last appointment 6:30 PM) and Saturdays from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM. A veterinary surgeon is always available on the phone for advice and to help you in an emergency. Please call the practice number: 01684 560940.

Will you care for my pet in my home?
We do make house calls in exceptional circumstances. We cannot carry everything that we might need, and your pet may have to be admitted to the surgery for tests or specialised treatment. For these reasons it's usually best for you to come to the practice.

Will you respond to an emergency call even if I'm not one of your regular "patients"?
Yes. A veterinary surgeon is alaways available by phone for advice and to help you deal with emergencies.

Services

What is a companion animal? What sort of animals do you treat?
Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small rodents are all companion animals. We do treat all species—companion animals are our primary focus.

Who will care for my pet?
Our goal is caring, personal service for all of our patients and their human guardians. Whenever possible each veterinary surgeon keeps his or her own case, which means you'll see the same person each time you visit. On occasions your veterinary surgeon may seek the advice of a colleague or specialist.

Do you issue travel passports?
Yes! Please see our services page for more information.

Do you neuter animals?
Yes! Please see our services page to learn more about when and why to neuter your companion animal.

Do you microchip animals?
Yes! Please visit our services page to learn more about this important method of identifying your pet.

How do I pay for treatment?
We appreciate payment at the time of consultation, as is typical for veterinary surgeries. We accept all major credit and debit cards, cheques, and cash.

We are a PDSA PetAid practice.

In order to qualify for PetAid:

Qualifying owners may register one animal per household, and then qualify for free veterinary treatment.

Note: This plan does not cover preventative treatment such as vaccinations or routine dental scaling, nor neutering.
