Pet Smile Month September 2010

|
Teeth and gum disease is the most common condition in adult dogs. The tell-tale signs are bad breath, poor appetite, and a lot of dribbling. We are offering free dental check-ups during September. Make an appointment with the nurse, have your dog's mouth checked, get some advice on dental care, and pick up some free teeth-care samples at the same time!

Fly strike is a serious condition affecting rabbits, that occurs during the summer months. It is caused by flies which are attracted to damp fur, urine, faeces around the rabbit's back end. They then lay their eggs where they hatch within hours into maggots that eat into the rabbit's flesh.

Find me a home please!

|
This nice young male cat was found near Perrins Residential Home in Malvern on Monday 10th May. He appears well looked after and we think he must have a home somewhere. If noone comes forward to claim him, he will be wanting a new home
He is looking a bit grumpy in the picture because he has just been woken up!
We can now report that thanks to his picture going into the Malvern Gazette he has now been reunited with his owner

Lily poisoning in cats

|
As these flowers have become more common , so too has the incidence of poisoning by them in cats.
All parts are potentially poisonous but it often occurs because cats brush against the flowers getting the orangy brown pollen on their coats. They then ingest the pollen when they are grooming themselves
Symptoms initially are vomiting, off food, and increased thirst. It is invariably fatal

Our new book-keeper has joined us . She previoulsy worked at a vets in Ledbury. Looks like everyrthings going to be computerised, and the system built up over a number of years (well tried and tested) may well be radically changed! Still as long as the bills go out on time |
Building - February 2010

|
Our new diagnostic suite - on the back of the building- is starting to take shape. Well, the foundations are in and a couple of layers of bricks! The concrete was actually poured in during the last heavy snowfall, and, in spite, of the weather work has continued since. This will give us much needed more space, and the builderes are absolutely fine....but we will be very glad when it is finished |
